RightsBridge – Watch This Space!

We are excitingly finalising details for the first two events of the “Building a Human Rights Bridge out of poverty” series. The eight months series of events is being held by the Human Rights Centre of the University of Essex, Amnesty International UK, ATD Fourth World and Just Fair to build bridges between people with lived and learned experience of poverty in the UK.

The first event, to mark Human Rights Day in December, will explore human rights standards and principles and how they are relevant to people’s own lives and experiences. The session will also introduce the 7th review by the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural rights of the UK and look at how people can add value to the process at the local and community level.

The second event in January will bringing together a wide range of projects from across the four nations to showcase good practice in local advocacy on poverty and human rights work that is led by lived experience. This session will be interactive allowing lots of time for conversations between activists and groups so as to build networks and explore synergies for future work.

The first few events in this series will be held online and digital access support will be available to those that need assistance to take part.
